PREPARATION PROCESS: All windows and doors will be covered with plastic to protect from overspray. Cement sidewalks will be covered in rosin paper or drop cloths, and tarps will be placed over the yard to protect plants and gardens.
POWER WASHING: All exterior siding will be power-washed before paint is applied to remove dirt, oils, loose paint, mold, mildew, grime, and dust. Peeling areas will then be scraped with carbide blades, and all paint chips will be cleaned up and disposed of properly.
CAULKING: All cracks, gaps, and joints less than 1/4-inch wide between stationary building components will be sealed with caulk. This improves insulation, provides waterproofing, and ensures a longer-lasting exterior finish. All gaps in horizontal and vertical siding will be filled to provide a solid, seamless surface before paint is applied.
We primarily use Sherwin Williams latex paints, as they are often superior to oil-based paints for most applications. However, we use oil-based stains and primers where they are superior — particularly for their bonding and stain-blocking properties. Each surface has different requirements depending on the substrate. For stained interior wood, lacquer clear coat is the most durable option.
We use a modified pad with wheels to cut in interior walls. This is the best way to achieve a perfect edge. We then use a small roller for the corners and a large roller for the field. We will use a brush on exterior work or in tight spaces where a pad cannot reach.
This depends on the specific situation and ground conditions. We avoid risking ruts in lawns or damage to sprinkler systems. We use ladders, scaffolding, or mechanical lifts depending on the height and accessibility of the area being painted. Safety is always our top priority.
